Mike Klassen of BCWineLover.com: the life of a wine blogger

Okay, we admit it. Wine blogging is a tough life. But someone's gotta do it.

Actually, we've been a bit slow getting busy on BCWineLover.com for a variety of reasons we won't bore you with. But we've updated the site in subtle ways lately, and we're planning even more changes in the weeks to come.

First of all, we're going to be providing a comprehensive account of our 2009 wine tour of the Okanagan. Lots of photos, video and other notes.

Second, we've slightly changed our theme. We're now "BCWineLover.com: BC Wine People, Places and Product." Why? It's simple. We think the people and places in BC's wine country are vitally important. The rich terroir of the Okanagan, or the unique winemaking regions of the Fraser Valley, Similkameen or the Wine Islands on the coast are all worthy of our readers attention.

It's the amazing people that make BC wine so special. Whether it's the winemakers from a large Vincorp or Peller operation in the Okanagan, or one of the many families who've taken a huge leap of faith to pursue the dream of making and selling wine, there are too many stories to tell. We think you want to know more about what makes BC a great place to make, and drink, wine.

In the months to come you'll see even more changes. We'd like to have more "guest editorials" from friends and strangers who just want to share their BC wine experiences. We'll court the industry's elite for their view of where BC wine is today, and where it's going. If you want to write about your BC wine experience, email us at .

Further, you'll see a lot more video and exclusive media here. It's something we love to do, and we'll provide more of what you saw here from the Playhouse Wine Festival in the Spring, and much, much more.

We're also making better use of social media like Twitter for our readers. If you have a Twitter account, then follow us at Twitter.com/BCWineLover. We'll be sharing many of our wine notes and experiences exclusively there.

Finally, we must remind ourselves why we began blogging about BC wine. As a young family with a child in tow, we always are looking for experiences that other families with children (and parents yearning for a bit of BC wine culture) can explore like us! We're always mindful of what we call the "family-friendly quotient" when visiting BC's wineries.

Stay tuned in the weeks and months ahead. There's much more news, views & reviews coming here at BCWineLover.com.
