Howling Bluff, a new kid in town

Howling Bluff Estate Wines

After meeting the folks from Howling Bluff Estate Wines at the recent Naramata Bench event in Vancouver they sent us a little more information about them which we're sharing below.

Howling Bluff is a small family owned vineyard and winery. Summa Quies Vineyard is their 20-acre vineyard on the stunning Naramata Bench. They focus on superior vintages of Sauvignon Blanc, a Pinot Noir and a Merlot-backed blend including Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Verdot.

Their winemaker is the celebrated and award wining Garron Elms of Lake Breeze Vineyards.

Howling Bluff will soon be releasing our 2007 Sauvignon Blanc. The 2007 is a rare 140 case production produced from estate grown grapes which were fermented in stainless steel.

Howling Bluff's 2006 Pinot Noir, another rare wine (140 cases), will be released in about 4 months. This wine was created from estate grapes by using a combination of whole berry fermentation alongside partially crushed berries fermented in separate tanks. The wine then rested and aged in new premium French Oak from four different cooperages for 14 months. The wine was then blended and put into bottles unfiltered.

Howling Bluff aims to be a true estate winery producing ultra premium wine in limited quantities.
