North American Wine Bloggers Conference

Zephyr Wine Adventures and Open Wine Consortium are holding the first-ever North American Wine Bloggers Conference (heh, what a concept!) scheduled for October 24-26 in Sonoma County, California. This conference will be a chance for wine bloggers – those who write about wine or about the wine industry – to meet each other, discuss their impact on the world of wine, and have a few sips.

It should be a fantastic conference that includes two dinners, two lunches, educational seminars, a Grand Tasting, a Live Wine Blogging event, keynote speakers including Gary Vaynerchuk and Alice Feiring, and a Vineyard Walk.

Check out www.WineBloggersConference.org for details and to register. There is limited conference and hotel space, so please don't wait to reserve your spot. Stacey and I can't make it this year, but we hope to get reports of the event, and possibly check it out next year!

In 2015, Mike led the BC Wine Appellation Task Group, guiding a province‑wide consultation that produced recommendations—later endorsed by industry plebiscite—that strengthened B.C.’s appellation standards and helped establish today’s sub‑GIs.

His writing has appeared in the Vancouver Sun, Huffington Post, and Daily Hive, blending history, policy insight, and personal experience. Alongside his work on Vancouver City Council, Mike continues to explore vineyards across the province, champion local producers, and celebrate the evolving culture of B.C. wine.
