Granite Creek Estate Wines, is located in Tappen, BC, just west of Salmon Arm at the far northern end of BC's wine growing region. We had the opportunity to sample several of their wines, and can say that we're excited by what this new BC winery is producing.
Our first bottle of Granite Creek was their 2006 Viognier, a light wine with floral/fruity tones, and apple & pear flavours prevalent on the palate after the wine opened up from being chilled.
Due to the delicate nature of the wine, we would suggest you avoid pairing this Viognier with spicy or strong foods. Rather it was better served as an aperitif or paired with a mild cheese (we had ours with Cambozola cheese, which allowed the Viognier to cut nicely through the stronger blue cheese taste).
