Ridley Bent performs

Here’s more detail in the release from Morning Bay:

Musicians from such legendary bands as Tragically Hip, Teenage Head, The Grapes of Wrath, The Odds and Doug and the Slugs headline Morning Bay Vineyard’s third annual Winestock Music Festival on Pender Island Saturday, August 30 from noon to dusk.

Canada’s only oceanfront vineyard provides a backdrop to an afternoon and evening of fabulous music, great food, and of course Morning Bay’s award-winning wines. From noon to dusk the hills will ring with music from some of Canada’s most talented artists.

Ridley Bent, one of Canada’s most promising country artists, won the Galaxie Rising Star Award at this year’s Edmonton Folk Music Festival, as well nomination for top new talent, top roots artist and best record producer (John Ellis, another Winestock alumnus) at this year’s Canadian Country Music Awards.

T(amara) Nile of Galiano Island was nominated for the 2007 Best Contemporary Singer at the Canadian Folk Music awards.

The Stellar Band of Neighbours is an all-star group made up of members (current and former) of Tragically Hip, The Odds, The Grapes of Wrath and Doug and the Slugs.

Wyckham Porteous, one of Canada’s most original folk musicians, and a 2008 nominee for best solo artist at the Western Canada Music Awards, returns for his third Winestock appearance.

Dave Rave, former lead singer from legendary punk band Teenage Head, makes the trek from New York City with side-kick Bill Culp, to bring his unique brand of punk/folk music for the third year.

And roots artist Bill Bourne, multiple Canadian Juno Award winner, brings his eclectic roots music to Winestock for the first time.

Artists will be backed up by Morning Bay’s own all-star back-up band, The Morning Bay City Rollers.

You just cannot get a better line-up anywhere at this price–$25 per person and $50 per family. Put the whole event in one of Canada’s most beautiful vineyard, and a memorable time is assured. Free camping is available on-site.
