#BCWineChat: Tonight we talk #BYOW and #corkage fees — 8pm sharp!
So Now You Can BYO in BC (Corkage) July 25, 2012 8-9pm PST
It's been just under a week since the BC government announced that participating restaurants could allow customers to bring their own wine – immediately! Folks like Richard Wolak (aka @VanFoodster) started to prepare lists of participating restaurants and their corkage fees; see also this list via @VancityBuzz. After the initial public excitement (and a mind-blowing 800+ Facebook likes on our breaking news post), the questions began:
- What will it cost consumers?
- Which restaurants will participate?
- What wine could you bring?
- How will affect gratuity for your server?
- What other regulations in our over-strict province might change?
- How will BC's community of wine producers benefit?
All of these questions and many more can be raised during tonight's BC Wine Chat. Your traditional host of this weekly occasion Sandra Oldfield is on an international vacation with her family for the next 3 weeks, so a series of "guest hosts" will be in place for the July 25, August 1st and 8th chats. Tonight (July 25) that responsibility goes to me. I hope that the usually lively #BCWineChat participants won't mind the change!
Tweet and share the news with your friends and colleagues who are interested in this dynamic topic of modernizing our liquor laws. And please feel free to jump into the fray on Twitter no matter what question you may have — this is all about sharing knowledge and helping wine consumers to learn more about BC's wine and culinary scene!
See you tonight on Twitter at 8pm-9pm! If you can't join in for some reason, the chats are always archived at bcwinechat.com.
