A Great Big Kitchen Party!
We at BC Wine Lover just love kitchen parties! Last night's A Great Big Kitchen Party for a Great Little Wine Region held in Inform Interiors was at full capacity. While the upstairs area felt a big crowded at times, this was a very cool, urban place to be. Chef Rob Feenie was overseeing the production of some amazing small plates, which were passed around to complement the wine offerings.
We were pleased to see many of our favourite wineries represented – Wild Goose Winery, Prospect Winery, Cedar Creek Estate Winery, Elephant Island Orchards and Lake Breeze Vineyards to name just a few. Even one of the south Okanagan's smaller wineries, Fairview Cellars, was there, represented by Bill Eggert. We were lucky to meet Bill about two years ago and purchase some of Fairview's fine product, and it was nice to connect with him again.
There were many appealing wines last night, but the most pleasant discoveries for me were the two sparkling wines I tried. Lake Breeze Vineyards has released their 2004 Zephyr. This is a zesty sparkling wine, with ripe pear on the nose and a green apple finish. Elephant Island Orchards were offering their 2007 Pink Elephant (you get bonus points if you can read the label!), which is green apple based fruit wine infused with cassis to give it a beatiful red colour.
If last night's kickoff event was any indication of things to come, I can't wait to see what's next!
